- Horses can be turned out immediately after marking. Because freezemarking does not actually break the skin it will not harm the horse or the formation of the mark, if the horse rolls or gets muddy.
- Horses can be rugged up immediately after marking. If a roller or surcingle is used it is advisable to use extra padding beneath for the first few days.
- The horse should be rested from work for four to seven days if marked on the saddle area, or two to four days if marked on the shoulder.
- Use a well padded numnah or saddlecloth during the formation of the freezemark
- It is most important the mark is allowed to heal naturally, you must not try to remove the scab
- Thick coated horses may need the freezemark clipping during the winter to ensure clarity of the freezemark
